I've been a member of the Strawberry Hill staff since 2011. Each November, we've held an incredible race that brings the community together and helps everyone get a little extra dose of nature in their day. There's a real sense of community and camaraderie centered around the race.

This year, we want to take Twisted Turkey Trail Tussle to the next level, and encourage our hundreds of runners and their friends and family to give back to the race, the Preserve, and our cause: environmental education.

Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve has been a community resource for more than 30 years. The Preserve is open to the public every day, free of charge. Our visitors have a wide variety of motivations: experiencing nature, physical fitness, artistic inspiration, getting away from it all...and Strawberry Hill provides something for everyone.

The Preserve also provides environmental education field trips to more than 6,000 school children each year. School budgets are tight, and we do everything we can to keep these experiences affordable for all students. That means that we subsidize more than $10 of the cost of each child's field trip out of our own resources, asking schools and families to provide only $6 per child. For 6,000 students, that means we are subsidizing $60,000 each year to make sure that our local children are able to have hands-on environmental education experiences.

Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve receives no direct support from federal, state, or local governments. Our resources come from memberships, grants, program income, and critical fundraisers like Twisted Turkey Trail Tussle. We need the help of enthusiastic fundraisers and generous donors to keep up this important work.
